Acoustic GuitarsMartin, C.F.: HD28 SUNBURST(Item ID: HD28 SUNBURST)
Standard Series Dreadnought with Rosewood Back and Sides and Spruce Top with Sunburst FinishVisually, there is an obvious cosmetic difference between the HD-28 and its cousin the D-28 which is the herringbone trim around the top of the HD-28. The less obvious but much more important structural difference between the two is the use of scalloped top braces on the HD-28. The reduced mass of the scalloped braces allows for a more flexible soundboard which releases vibrating string's energy more readily. This liberating function serves, among other things, to increase the amplitude of the sound - the instrument is louder! In general, with all other structural features being the same, the simple use of scalloped top braces on the HD-28 gives it a louder, more expansive aspect than the D-28. It is as if the classic voice of the D-28 with all of its intrinsic tonal properties has been enhanced by moving it from a recital hall into a concert hall. This guitar includes a deluxe molded archtop hardshell case. www.martinguitar.com
