2003 Dake Traphagen Classical with European Spruce Top and Brazilian Rosewood Back and SidesThis guitar is another fine example of Dake Traphagen's mastery of the craft of instrument making. It has a simple, but rich appearance that suggests depth of experience, intelligence, confidence and purpose. The utility and value of a fine musical instrument is its intrinsic potential to give voice to the wide range of human emotions; to be, by virtue of its natural tonal complexity and sophistication, a tool that can not only well represent one's specific musical intentions, but that can also suggest new tonal areas to explore. If one's musical imagination is thus stimulated, one's potential for artistic growth is significantly enhanced. This excellent guitar is such an instrument. Its voice is characterized by a bold, firm bass that serves as a rich foundation for the rest of the wonderful ensemble of sound - the higher tones have more body, and the middle registers more weight and definition. Any vowel quality can be easily articulated, and the complimentary mix of body, balance, blend and projection provides a sure footing for any musical path one is inspired to take. This guitar is in excellent structural condition, however it does have a couple of string dings behind the bridge and some other minor signs of wear from regularly playing.
