2017 "T" Series Orchestra Model with Mahogany and Spruce

From the Collings website:

"The Traditional or "T" Series guitars reflect Bill Collings' return to his guitar making roots and offer a new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound. Each T Series guitar is built using animal protein glue and a very thin all nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body, making them exceptionally dynamic and responsive. Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection.

Each Traditional series guitar comes with a handmade lightweight Collings case designed and built in the Collings shop. The pairing of these new Traditional guitars and cases makes for a combination of old world quality and aesthetic that is unprecedented among instruments available today."

This 2017 OM1T recently came to us in a trade, and it was in nearly mint condition when we received it. However, while it was hanging in our office for further evaluation, a camera tripod nearby was inadvertently knocked over, and as it fell to the floor the rubber lens cover of the attached camera apparently brushed across the guitar's top. As our attention was focused solely on the camera we did not even notice that it had actually made contact with the guitar - we neither heard any sound nor saw any movement to hint that the guitar had been disturbed. We were simply relieved that the camera was not damaged. But, later that day one of us noticed an unusual refraction of the light reflected from the guitar’s top, and, upon closer inspection, we discovered an eight inch scrape that clearly tracked the arc of the camera’s earlier fall. The finish is not broken, but the top grain under it is deformed along the track. As one can imagine, we were so shocked and dismayed that for a time we were left speechless and in denial. But, alas, life is thus - unlikely things happen. Thus, if you are one who can appreciate that a mishap that mars the appearance of an instrument in no way mars that instrument's musical potential, then his superb guitar with a voice that can inspire offers a rare opportunity to own a really awesome instrument for a really great price.
