SCRATCH AND DENT SALE!!!
As most of our customers know and appreciate, we actively strive to maintain our instruments at a high standard; and, while we encourage folks to try our guitars, we do our best to ensure that our guitars are not handled casually. Even so, it is unfortunately the case in this business (and in life!) that accidents do happen, thus occasionally one of our guitars takes a lick or two! Though frustrating, for those who aren't necessarily concerned with having a pristine guitar, our scratch and dent guitars can be a great deal, as they are instruments that we've vetted, adjusted, and they are still covered by the manufacturer's warranty and our Action Warranty. Below are some of our best bruised beauties, feel free to stop by and check them out, or give us a call if one is calling your name!
TAYLOR 714CE CEDAR TOP - $2725 OR $2640 CASH

The 714CE has long been shop favorite here at Maple Street Guitars, as we've always observed that Taylor's Cedar/Rosewood models had unique warmth and complexity. In 2012 Taylor revised the 700 series specs such that an Englemann Spruce top is now standard, along with the vintage sunburst and new fingerboard inlay. Not being ones to just go with the flow, we stuck with a tonewood combination that we know well and really love, so this guitar has a cedar top upgrade. Unfortunately, this beautiful top took a whack in the store and now sports a pinhead size ding on the lower bout of the treble side. |
 
Collings 290DC White - $2875 OR $2775 CASH

When Collings debuted the 290 Double Cutaway at the 2011 NAMM show, the guitar they featured was exactly like this one, and no one was immune to its allure! We, too, were smitten and immediately ordered one. This guitar has a very minor finish blemish (a black fleck) under the finish on the bass side, and it was also dinged beneath the wraparound tailpiece. Both of these cosmetic issues are quite minor, but we cannot sell the guitar as first quality--we do have another first quality example available at the normal selling price of $2950. |
 
Collings City Limits DLX Tiger Eye - $4750 OR $4600 CASH

It truly pained us to discover the dings on this stunning guitar, which were likely the result of a close encounter with a stand. There are two pin head size dents on the bottom (on either side of the endpin) and one good dent on rear contour bevel (there are two shots of this ding, not two dings). Regardless, this City Limits Deluxe is an absolute beauty! |
   
Fender Eric Johnson Strat 2TSB - $1850 OR $1795 CASH

Here we have a brand spankin' new Eric Johnson Strat in two tone sunburst, that received a very minor ding on back just above the back plate. Otherwise this is a killer guitar, and like all guitars we sell it has been vetted by us and set up in our repair shop. |
 
Eastman AC220 Dreadnought - $425 OR $410 CASH

Without question, Eastman builds some of the most impressive guitars and mandolins for the money. Their flat top guitars have a bold and focused voicing, and they have some great features including bone nuts and saddles on all models! Like almost all other guitar manufacturers, Eastman has encountered issues with their finishing during their history. For the most part this has been isolated to flat top acoustic models, like this AC220, which has a lacquer finish that has crazed. Lacquer is formulated with retarders that determine its hardness--for example, Gibson is known to use softer lacquer formulas that often result in finish crazing or checking. Eastman has since converted to polyester finishes, which do not craze. Finish crazing like that on this guitar is purely cosmetic; and, in this case, crazing can be difficult to detect except from an oblique angle. Incidentally we do have a first quality example for those who are bothered by this cosmetic issue. |
