O-Model Cutaway in Walnut and Cedar
Of all the "alternative" tonewoods that have become popular in response to the scarcity of more conventional woods like Brazilian rosewood and mahogany, walnut is undoubtedly one of the most impressive. It has great bass presence and rosewood-esque color, but a drier, less-saturated note with plenty of clarity and drive. Given the drier quality of walnut, the Western Red cedar top on this Lowden O23, is a fitting tonewood. Not only does the cedar lend its characteristic warmth and sweetness, but its softness also tempers the immediacy of the walnut's response. In an O body (jumbo size) these complex tonal qualities are only emphasized and they are a beautiful complement to George Lowden's unmistakable rich and airy voicing. For players of all sorts, this guitar is a thrill to play!
