By virtue of Collings' impeccable craftsmanship, everything about this instrument is distilled to a bare-bones, no-nonsense perfection. Like a study in simplicity, its clean, sturdy appearance expresses the essence of refined utility. Its straightforward looks alone leave no doubt that this guitar was made for one purpose - to be put to use for some serious music making, and it delivers.

In terms of performance, the combination of playability and sound is superb. The clean, beautifully shaped body bevels comfortably balance the guitar with a player's body, and the peerless fretwork and smoothly curved neck heel provide for smooth, almost effortless playing over the entire reach of the fingerboard. At the same time, the guitar's voice is marked by a wide expressive range that is equally inspiring. Even the natural acoustic sound of this instrument is surprisingly satisfying which is due no doubt to Collings' selective choice and use of only the most resonant tonewoods. And with this instrument's natural responsiveness coupled to just two ThroBak pickups and a select amplifier, one can produce sounds of such tonal diversity that every music genre defined by the electric guitar is within reach - from warm mellow jazz to edgy, gut-wrenching grinds.

The aim for this guitar was to provide a guitar with old school sounds and old school style. We settled on Collings’s full aging treatment to give it the look of a “Case Queen” but with a Tortoise pickguard for a little more visual flair. The heart of this guitar comes from the muscly mojo supplied by the Lollar P90 pickups which offer an exceptional degree of clarity and dynamic range to go with the classic P90 bark and bite.
