The Robin Guitar Co. was formed in 1982 by Dave Wintz who owned the Rockin' Robin Guitar Shop in Houston, Texas. Robin guitars were made in Japan until 1986, when their production moved to the United States. The famous Vaughan brothers, Stevie Ray and Jimmy were frequently seen onstage with the "RDN" 6-string standard neck/6 string octave neck double-neck guitar in the 1980s. Notable Austin, Texas guitarist, Eric Johnson was also a Robin player. In 1994, Robin guitars and basses began featuring pickups from their sister company, Rio Grande Pickups.
The Rawhide Slabtop Supreme was considered top of the line. With the highly figured maple top and neck, maple binding and pearloid pickup covers and pickguard, this guitar truly stands out. The Rio Grande Pickups are rich and robust. The 5-way switch gives the player tonal variations that are singular to the Robin sound.
Our own John Cable states: Although I am not the owner, I have personal experience with this guitar and its owner. We used it extensively in the studio due to its versatility and incredible tone. I am a believer!
This guitar is in excellent condition with only minor scratches on the back and typical pick wear. It has been well cared for.
