Cole Clark: CC FL2EC-RDBL

(Item ID: CC FL2EC-RDBL    Serial#: 180734610)

House Brand CC FL2EC-RDBL 2018 Cole Clark “Fat Lady” 2

General Description:

Founded in 2001, Cole Clark has gradually established itself as a unique player in the acoustic guitar market. With an uncommon and laudable focus on environmentally friendly and sustainable practices, Cole Clark produces a guitar that is instantly recognizable for its use of domestic Australian hardwoods like Queensland Maple, Tasmanian Blackwood, Bunya, and the like. Additionally, these guitars have a tastefully understated natural aesthetic with a satin nitrocellulose finish. In addition to their use of less conventional hardwoods, Cole Clark utilizes a Spanish heel or integral neck construction, where the body is built around the neck joint—this is primarily associated with traditional nylon string guitar design. In conjunction with the Spanish heel, the sides are joined with a ridge system (rather than conventional kerfed lining) that is created from a carved top and back.

These features all come together to create an instrument with a robust and yet crisp response, with ample depth and space behind the initial attack. This particular dreadnought (a.k.a. “Fat Lady”) indeed embodies these characteristics. Being a larger guitar, the CCFL-2 does exhibit a bit more midrange compression/scoop, as one would expect. Even so, this guitar has a pleasingly balanced tone when played fingerstyle, and thus would be a very appealing option for any player looking for both a reliable and adaptable workhorse guitar.

In keeping with their modus operandi of unique design, Cole Clark guitars also boast a patented pickup system that combines three signal sources. The theory behind this approach is that each type of pickup has a certain strength for a given frequency range, while perhaps being less ideal for other ranges. As stated by Cole Clark’s website: “… 6 piezos under the saddle for bottom end, a face sensor that can be blended in to hear frequencies in the mid to high range (350hz maximum crossover) and a condenser microphone shelved to hear only extreme highs.” Obviously, blending pickup sources (e.g., piezo under-saddle transducers and internal condenser mics) is not a new concept; but, the application here is a departure from the norm, and generates a vibrant, responsive, and well-defined amplified voice. Please note, however, that Cole Clark doesn’t recommend this pickup for highly percussive styles of play!

Apart from a touched-up ding on the top below the bridge, this guitar has no evident signs of wear. Like all guitars we sell, it has been professionally setup and is ready go! EXCELLENT+ to NEAR MINT CONDITION.
