1986 Ibanez GB10-BS George Benson Signature Model in Brown Sunburst
Originally introduced in 1977, Ibanez’s GB10 was their first artist signature hollowbody guitar. The guitar has been such a huge hit that it’s been available ever since! The GB10 was George Benson’s first signature model made by the Japanese manufacturer and was a bit of a departure from most of the big “jazz-boxes” favored by players of the genre. Its body acts as a sort of bridge from traditional hollowbodies to the ever-popular Les Paul, which makes for not only a more comfortable playing experience but also helps to cut down on feedback at high levels, a huge requirement for the kinds of shows Benson was playing at the time. The result is a snappy and lively guitar acoustically which still has the depth and fullness one associates with a larger archtop when amplified. One might say it’s a perfect match! Other player friendly features include the rubber-tipped “Speed” knobs for the volume and tone controls, a slimmer fast-playing C-shape neck, and Benson’s “GB-Special” floating mini-humbucking pickups.
Condition:
This guitar was well maintained by its previous owner. Outside of some notable tailpiece oxidation and binding discoloration, there are only some faint scratches to report. We would rate it as EXCELLENT CONDITION.
