Gibson

The Gibson Les Paul Jr. is perhaps best remembered as a stripped down rock and roll machine favored by players from Keith Urban and John Lennon (in his early solo career) to Billie Joe Armstrong and Johnny Thunders.  With but one P-90 pickup, one volume and one tone control, it would be easy (and arguably correct) to consider it a masterpiece of understatement.  They have long been remembered for their fat and cutting tone as well as the remarkable sustain that a mahogany body and set neck are often associated with. 

This particular Les Paul Jr. is a great offering from Gibson’s Custom Shop based off a model from 1957.  Naturally, it sports a “baseball bat” style chunky “C” 50s neck carve (widely considered one of Gibson’s most comfortable profiles) as well as other classic period correct appointments including a TV Yellow matte nitrocellulose finish, and single line Kluson tuners with white oval buttons.  These aesthetics make this guitar look as downright cool as it sounds. 

As for its inherent sound, the Single P-90 at the bridge imparts a biting, if mid frequency forward sound most ideally suited for tones from slightly crunchy to massively overdriven.  However, it does so much more.  When one backs off the volume or tone, and plays with a lighter touch, it becomes suitable for jazz, soul, and even country.  This is truly a responsive platform that will serve to amplify the player’s individual touch.

Condition

This particular Les Paul Jr. is remarkably clean, with only the slightest amount of pick scuffing on the pickguard as the only tell to indicate it was ever strummed.  As such we would consider this guitar to be in NEAR MINT condition.
