Surfcaster in Transparent Orange c. 1992
The Surfcaster in general is not what one would expect from the known and respected shredders at Charvel, yet its midcentury appointments and overall quirkiness make it a popular topic of conversation around Maple Street.
Clearly it is visually striking, with its “Gumby” headstock and offset body design, while a transparent orange finish and perloid pick guard round out its more vintage oriented appointments.
Though it would be easy for this instrument to rest on aesthetics alone, it is a true rocker, most ideally at home in the idioms of Surf, Rockabilly, Country, and Jump Blues, while still being a worthy fit for nearly any genre. Its semi hollow design and lipstick pickups give it a snarl and chime, both balanced and responsive, with the middle position really shining, giving one pronounced highs and round lows with very present mids.
Cosmetic Condition:
While overall in terrific condition, there are a few minor cosmetic blemishes of note which include a minor ding at the 9th fret marker, some finish scuffing at the output jack, and some finish indentations on the back of the neck on the treble side at the 12th fret. Even with the above considerations we would consider this guitar to be in EXCELLENT CONDITION.
