It’s no secret that 1961 was a great year for the Fender Stratocaster, and this Limited Edition Roasted ’61 SHR Strat embodies that with ease. This guitar has an array of striking features that will entice even the most traditional player. The heavy relic finish gives the guitar a feel of an instrument that has stood the test of time. Its two-piece roasted ash body gives it a beautiful dark color and has cooked off the moisture in the wood, making it quite light.

The neck sports a chunky “C” neck profile that is accompanied by a 9.5” fingerboard radius and 21 jumbo frets. Said neck definitely leans towards the larger side, but is still very comfortable and sturdy for someone who may prefer to dig into notes a bit more in the left hand. Paired with this neck is a beautifully relic’d body. The relic job is emulating a guitar that has been rode hard and put up wet with all the mojo one could want. With the absence of a glossy lacquer, the body proves very easy to move upon while playing. This is a huge factor, especially in humid climates like the one here in Atlanta.

The hand-wound Texas Special pickups give this guitar an exceptional sound that oozes the quintessential “strat” sound. They have plenty of clarity and top end that makes the guitar easily heard through a dense mix but does not crowd the low-mid range. In addition to this EQ curve, these pickups have a very nice touch response to them. This is noticeable especially when the player has a rather percussive style of striking the strings with either a pick or their fingers. It listens to what the player is doing and translates it through the amp in a very immediate and exciting way.

This guitar was kept in immaculate condition by its original owner and as such we rate it as EXCEPTIONALLY FINE condition.
