Happy New Year Everybody!
It's hard to believe that the 21st century is almost two decades old, but here we are. We hope these holidays have been good to all of you and we wish you the best for 2018. We certainly appreciate all of your support over these many years and hope you continue to come see us when you get the urge to buy your first guitar, add to your collection or just to say hello.
This month, Mark Pertain will demonstrate the cool things you can do with partial capos. Nick DiSebastian will play and compare mandolins, the Collings MT and MTO.  Our Teacher of the Month is Johnna Jeong. We would also like to introduce you to our ace repair team, Dave Boling and Jake Sharp. In Electric Avenue, we have a couple of stellar guitars with unique and newly designed pickups, the Fender American Jazzmaster and the G&L Doheny Custom. We are also really excited about the WIC Wireless System to free you from the cord. Check it out!

Guitars of the Month
Santa Cruz VJ
Martin America 1
The Santa Cruz VJ
The best of the older Gibson Advance Jumbos that we have encountered have been disarmingly light in weight and simple in their appearance with a straightforward, direct, and powerful voice - a kind of working man's guitar that was a stalwart companion for many performers. The spirit is the same with this Santa Cruz Vintage Jumbo.
The Martin America 1
Limited Edition Dreadnought with Certified Sustainable American Tone woods. "This limited edition dreadnought is based on Martin’s legendary D-18. This guitar features all United States sourced woods, including sycamore back and sides, a cherry neck, black walnut fingerboard, headplate and bridge, as well as an Adirondack spruce top and bracing."
The Best Wireless System We Have Found!
The WIC (Wireless Instrument Connect) from PRA Audio
Made in Alpharetta, Georgia!
"WiC for guitar is a high fidelity Wireless instrument Connection for serious musicians, with sound quality that will make you forget the cable, and it’s really easy to use. Just use the short cable with the red stripe to plug the WiC transmitter into your guitar, and use the longer cable with the blue stripe to plug the WiC receiver into your amp, pedal, or mixing board. Turn them on, and play. They pair instantly, the sound quality is amazing, and the range is awesome. Once you start to move you see that it stays connected without noise, interference, or cutout for a distance of up to 500 feet in open air."

The best repair staff in the Southeast! Along with setting up every new and used instrument that comes in to Maple Street, Jake Sharp and Dave Boling will keep all your fretted instruments playing great. They are also two of the best guitar players in the store.
Electric Avenue
The newly redesigned Fender Jazzmaster and the
Brand new G&L Doheny Custom
These guitars may look alike, but plug them in and the differences become evident. We would be hard pressed to pick one over the other, however. Both models have innovative new pickup designs from their respective builders that can give you true vintage tone and feel!

From Fender: Developed by longtime pickup guru Michael Frank, creator of the renowned Eric Johnson Signature Stratocaster Pickups, the brand-new V-Mod Jazzmaster pickups kick out hot, vintage inspired tone with plenty of punch and definition. V-Mod pickups are engineered using a proprietary blend of Alnico magnet types for the neck and middle pickups. Each pickup is voiced specifically for its position, creating high-output tone with vintage warmth and the crisp, clear sound that made Fender a legend.

From G&L: Doheny takes the bolt-on offset-body into new sonic territory with newly developed Magnetic Field Design jazz pickups, the first on any production G&L. Naturally, these new pickups will invite comparison to Leo’s jumbo MFD ASAT Special pickups, given they employ a narrow bobbin aperture and broad coil splay. But Doheny's MFD pickups are more about jangle than twang, just as they should be for a guitar like this. With a classic jazz bobbin aperture wrapped with traditional Formvar wire, these pickups just might be the approach Leo would have taken had he been with us a few years longer.
